Project Thanksgiving: #myconspiracy

Thanksgiving at Nativity is all about expressing our gratitude to God by serving those in our local community. Our pastor is preaching a powerful message this series about our ability to respond to the blessings God has given us. We have a great opportunity this Thanksgiving to respond to the gifts we've received by sharing them with people in our local community, those in need both materially and spiritually.

In the past, we’ve collected tons of food and given hundreds of hours of volunteer service for people in material need in our local area. You’ve given generously and certainly have made a big impact! However, we have learned that our local partners actually get overwhelmed with support during the holiday season. People from all over, who aren’t engaged throughout the year, serve and donate during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Rather than giving food for one day, we’re going to bless our partners in a big way so they can continue to serve people and change lives throughout the entire year.

Here comes the conspiracy...

In addition to serving lots of people who are in need materially by supporting the great work of our partners, don't we all know someone close to home who could use some extra support, some extra love this time of year too? There are people in our lives (coworkers, neighbors, extended family) who are tired, overwhelmed, stressed out, and lonely. What would it look like if our entire church took response-ability for our blessings and used our gifts to serve them as well? How many lives could we touch this Thanksgiving?

1 Peter 4:10 says, “As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another.” This year, Nativity will be giving "gifts of service" to thousands of people in our local community. If you know someone who's lonely, take him out for coffee. If you know someone who's stressed out, help them with a project or watch the kids for a few hours. If you know someone who's down, bake him some cookies, send her a note, or invite him to church with you!

Follow these four simple steps to join Project Thanksgiving: #myconspiracy

     (1)  Pray. Think about who God wants you to serve and say a prayer for them
     (2)  Give. Give them a gift of service: check out ideas at
     (3)  Share. Post a picture of your time together and share your story (use #myconspiracy on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and any social media)
     (4)  Impact. Nativity is giving away 7% of our November offering to directly support our local partners in the year ahead: The Baltimore Station, HopeSprings, My Sister's Place.

Imagine the difference we could make if our whole church "used our gifts to serve one another." Join the conspiracy! Get ready to launch the weekend of November 2/3...

*We are striving to be diligent stewards of our church's resources and have carefully selected our Missions strategic partners. These non-profits are doing excellent work and have been vetted for their leadership, strategy, financial health, and measurable impact. In this year of transition, we have also ensured that the organization we previously supported will have a successful program this year.
